Let's face the Music
Music has a way of hitting you right in the soul. It can be your company during dark days, or the soundtrack for the happy days that make you want to skip down the street.
My taste in music varies depending on my mood. I love classical music that reminds me of my grandfather, or show tunes that make me want to be on broadway. I can’t resist a pop tune with a catchy melody, and if you play me some oldies I will probably know every word.Â
My deep appreciation for music of varying types is often tied to a memory, or a person, or a specific time period in my life.Â
Listening to certain albums (Gordon, by the Barenaked Ladies, for example) takes me straight back to being a kid. It was on repeat at our family cottage along with Diana Krall. Could somebody please peel me a grape, or perhaps fetch me some ice?Â
The perfect playlist for a dinner party can make the evening sparkle, or an acoustic set can be all of the comfort you need when it just feels like nothing is going your way.Â
When was the last time you jammed out in your car to a favourite song? Windows down, not a care in the world? Although it may be embarrassing if someone you know pulls up beside you at a stop light, I imagine that the sight of you enjoying your favourite tunes would put a smile on their face.Â
Try it today. I double dog dare you.Â

Right now, I’m loving the new Arkells album, Disco Loadout. A cover album full of so many classics.Â

What is on repeat on your playlist lately?Â
